If you’ve been following my Instagram account you might have read that it was a very good week. I shared the fact that I hit 100 followers on the gram, 100 likes on TikTok and 200 unique viewers on my website. Even though these numbers are nothing compared to what I am trying to achieve, I am beyond thrilled by the love and positivity I have already been lucky to enjoy. In that specific post on my story I told you boys and girls that this wasn’t even the best news.
Last week my girlfriend and I planned on visiting some really good friends. A couple who owns a relatively new house, very well decorated with the nicest wooden colors that match both the fixed interior and the materials of the building. Before going there we got a call with the most exciting question I could hear at the moment: “Hey Jonatan, when you come over, would it be possible to bring some pieces you’ve made with you? We’re really keen on buying some if that’s already possible”. At this point it is hard not to jump through the roof of excitement. In particular the word ‘some’ made me really fucking happy. Whenever my project gets off the ground, meaning I get my VAT number and I start selling my art, I already know some family members and friends who will support my project by buying a piece. But because she wanted to buy more than one work, I got the idea that she wasn’t in just to support me. Later at her house she confirmed what I thought. People should buy my art because they like it she said, and because they want to put it up on the wall. They shouldn’t do so just to support you and leave it in a room where noone gets to enjoy it. Ow boy, what a moment this was when I heard her explain this. So we made an arrangement that she can put up the two pieces she wants, and whenever I get my business officially up and running, we can sort out formalities.
So here it is, my first two pieces of art found a new home and I am fucking happy about it. If it wasn’t for the lack of space, she would’ve even taken a third one as well, but she already had some lovely paintings on the wall with footprints in all colors of her cutest dogs. And let’s be honest, this is something no artist can compete with. Paintings made by your best friends always deserve the best spots in your house.
Not the longest of blogs, but that’s the best thing about this section: I can and will do whatever I want without thinking of things like ‘this is too long, too short, too blunt, too stupid, too this, too that,… bla bla bla’. See you next week for another insight in my life, and mainly this thing called my head.
