I've been posting several paintings a week on my socials since the end of June. Some feedback I have often heard, is that I should do something with the paint splatter on the floor. I totally agree: the paint splatter on the floor looks stunning, and is always changing. But right now it isn't the paint splatter on the floor I want to use, it's the cups!

When making a new art piece, I dilute my paint with a pouring medium. For this I use a classic kitchen mixer. Yes, my girlfriend wasn't too happy when I first came up with this. Luckily she doesn't use this one quite often, so now it's completely mine to use. Since I need to mix my paint with the pouring medium, I use a lot of cups. Yeah yeah, there's quite some single waste plastics involved which can't be recycled due to the paint, but I'm thinking about giving this a second life. When I finish a painting, I put the cups on the floor and spill the last bits of paint, both in the cups and the paint still on the mixers. The way I do this gives the cups a certain Jackson Pollock vibe. For those who don't know him: look him up, you'll be amazed!

So when I'm finished working, the cups look really fucking cool. I am still thinking about how I am going to use these cups to make something. Maybe in a collaboration with another artist, who knows. A first idea was to use the pattern and submit it for the decent reusable plastic cups. In my country, festivals and events are huge on the use of plastic cups which can be reused. It would be a huge honor if certain events or festivals use cups with my patterns. If the festival were to be Tomorrowland it would be a dream come true. Seeing this festival goes really into detail to be visually stunning in every way possible, this does look like a winning combination in my eyes. So this may be an idea I am going to pursue in the future and hope for the best.

Even though I would be thrilled to see this happen, I also love trying out new stuff. So who knows, maybe you'll be seeing some kind of sculptures with these cups made by yours truly. But for now I will stick to using canvases on my spin machine because I love it way too much to deviate from this path I have chosen. Sometimes it is indeed hard not try out a zillion different things, but it can be for the better to stick to the path you have set out to follow. That's not to say that we can't sometimes sneak off the beaten path. It is also a place where magic tends to happen. Ow, how fun it is this contradiction.

If you would have any ideas on how to use these cups, or want to try something out yourself and turn waste into art, just holla at me. After all, it's like they said in High School Musical a lifetime ago: we're all in this together ;-)
